Experience a night where the NYC avant-garde meets traditional Eastern European Jewish music.
Celebrated Grammy award-winning composer and trumpeter Frank London returns to London for a rare performance, joined by friends from London’s eclectic Klezmer scene.
A founding member of The Klezmatics, London has been at the forefront of the global Klezmer revival for over four decades and is hailed as “one of the most important musicians out of the New Jewish Renaissance.”
With a career spanning more than 500 recordings and 30+ solo records, London has collaborated with an extraordinary range of artists, from John Zorn, La Monte Young, David Byrne and Allen Ginsberg, to Iggy Pop, LL Cool J, David Murray, and Itzhak Perlman.
The concert will feature traditional tunes drawn from the vast Klezmer cannon, and original compositions. Joining him is an all-star line-up of leading UK Klezmer musicians including Anna Lowenstein (fiddle), Josh Middleton (accordion), Francesca Ter-Berg (cello), and Simon Roth (drums), each a key figure in cutting edge new Jewish music across Europe.
Opening the night, Sephirot (aka Daniel Gouly) presents a solo electronic set of deep Cantorial–Techno fusions, a project itself profoundly influenced by London’s boundary-pushing work.
